In our Spanish school, the bonds between our students grow very strong as they go to class together every day, attend cultural activities in the afternoons, go out on weekends, and even share accommodation. The feeling of being far from home means that these students make strong connections with those who they spend the most time with and they get to become like a little multicultural family. Our Spanish teachers know this and love to organize little surprises when it is one of the students’ birthday. Celebrating birthdays with classmates creates an excuse for the group to get to know each other in a different way: relaxed and happy, while still practicing Spanish although not following a set text from a book.
Such small but affectionate details have no price. Some simple biscuits or pastries brighten anyone’s day, and we all love surprises and singing the ‘cumpleaños feliz’ in Spanish.
We would like to use this opportunity to wish a happy birthday to Elisa (Jinyi), one of our Spanish students. We hope that although she is far from her home country China, and from her family, she will enjoy her recent majority of age and have a great time.
Happy Birthday Elisa!
